Charming Lass to ride on elephant back

A wave of public sympathy in the wake of the slaying of her father, a popular figure, swept this Charming Lass into the limelight overnight.

Later the mass media gave wide publicity to what she said and did, thus giving her a meteoric rise to fame.

On the eve of the last big poll she created a sensation when she quit the Blue camp to throw her weight behind the Compassionate One.

Meanwhile, a rumour abuzz in political circles says the Charming Lass is set to switch her allegiance to the Green party with the general elections round the corner. However, the Colombo District Green party list is full up and the Green Chief is running into difficulty in finding a slot for her on the list, has invited her to run on the Gampaha District list, they say.

A provincial heavyweight who has become the political mentor of the Lass is said to be carrying out negotiations with the Green Chief to ensure a stable future for her in the Green party.
