Yet another duo to quit the party?

Two Green party members, one of them a onetime leading willow wielder hailing from a well- known political family close to Colombo and the other a ‘nayake’ from the upcountry told a media briefing the other day that they had decided not to play an active and responsible role in the party in future.

By the way, the general opinion that has gained ground in the country is that if a Green party member distanced himself from the party it would mean that he has decided to join forces with the Telephone party.

Meanwhile, the news that the onetime willow wielder was about to cast his lot with the Telephone party had perturbed some stalwarts of that party for reasons of their own and had decided to oppose his advent. In fact, they had informed their party boss of their reservations.

However, the former willow wielder, quite used to temporary setbacks would pursue his political plans undeterred, they say.

He might even consider a political journey with the lanky colleague elected to the council from the Colombo district as an alternative, knowled geable sources add.
