Gemunu, who once ruled the roost in Kelaniya had been planning to enter the upcoming race on the Green party ticket. Now that the Green party has got almost split down in the middle, the man is said to be wondering as to which faction he should join.
Now that Punchi Dasa has decided to enter the race from Colombo district, Gemunu is said to be feeling that he will have a good chance of winning a seat in Hambantota district no matter which faction he is to run from.
The man seems to know that his political future lies with the Greens as the doors of the Pohottuwa led- alliance remain closed to him. However, he is said to be carefully watching the situation without committing himself. For he is said to be hoping against hope that Punchi Dasa would give him some encouraging signal.
Meanwhile, the Marshall, one-time rival who has now turned his thick chum is said to be keen on making way for him to join the Punchi Dasa faction of the Green party.
