Some members of the Blue rump are said to be straddling the fence these days. Some of them are said to be contemplating throwing in their lot with the Green party while others appear inclined to somersault to Pohottuwa.
Meanwhile, peace talks between Pohottuwa and the Blue rump are dragging on with no outcome in sight and all indications are that the Compassionate One is not likely to secure the common opposition candidacy for the big poll.
Given this apparent stalemate, several Diyawanna politicos remaining loyal to the Compassionate One – from places like Colombo and Kurunegala – have decided to request the latter to seek re-election from Pulatisipura on the Pohottuwa ticket at the next general poll, taking a leaf from the former strongman’s book.
These Diyawanna politicos have considered that if this plan worked, they would be able to make their own political future secure under the Pohottuwa banner.
