The argument over the elusive political solution!

The Northern main alliance bigwigs got set to issue a Thai Pongal message to the mass media.

The grey-haired party chief told the Diyawanna member, who was assigned to write the script to include as a must, a para in the message to say “that it is our prayer and wish on this Thai Pongal Day to find a reasonable and lasting political solution to the unresolved national question through the new Constitution…”

However, the other party high-ups strongly objected to including the proposed paragraph relating to a political solution in the Thai Pongal message.

Nevertheless, the elderly chief put his foot down that the para should be included in the message. Yet, his juniors would not listen to him.
Finally, the alliance chief angrily asked them in a raised voice why they were objecting to the para about the political solution.

Then a voluble young Diyawanna member said in a voice charged with emotion:

“We expressed that hope last year’s Thai Pongal message, in the message in the year before last and in all messages issued in the previous years as well. And did we get a political solution, Sir?”

And that outburst marked the end of the argument. However, this year’s message that was issued to the mass media later too contained the para being repeated year after year in their Thai Pongal.
