Some top Diyawanna politicos are said to be making an effort to prevent the arraignment of a person taken into custody for suspected involvement in a carnage.
The suspect had told a tale of woe to the concerned Diyawanna politicos after being released on bail. Highly moved, these politicos had donated some money to him, they say.
Several politicos are also said to be using their influence to have the suspect reinstated in his job. Meanwhile, some of them are reportedly paying him a monthly stipend to him.
