Samantha Power from the States, who attended as a special guest at a ceremony held to celebrate Khema’s boy’s 30 years in politics at the BMICH paid a glowing tribute to the latter in her address.
The ceremony and the goodbyes over, Samantha entered the lift along with several other distinguished guests including a Green party bigwig and Mangala. When the lift was about to go down, the controversial Kalutara politico showed up outside. So, those inside the lift car invited in the Kalutara politico making enough room for him as well.
During the lift ride, one of them introduced the Kalutara politico to Samantha. He added: “…By the way, he is going to be the common opposition candidate at the next Presidential poll…”
Samantha who appeared a little surprised, remarked with a smile: “He looks that he is quite capable of winning the confidence of the people!”
