Most Blue party politicos were not available in the House when the vote on the second reading of the Budget was taken. The party’s secretarial one, Daya, the chief opposition whip Amare from the deep South and the matchmaker SB were conspicuous by their absence.
Earlier, Wattala Long John intrigued by the absence of the prominent Blues, approached the Boralugoda scion already in his seat and asked him, “Where are your Blue friends?”
The Boralugoda scion promptly replied: “Don’t you know that Sudarshani’s father has passed away! Amare, SB and others are at the funeral house!”
Long John greeted this reply with a wry smile and invited the Boralugoda scion to look back. Sudarshani dressed in a white saree was there as large as life seated just behind him!
The Boralugoda scion looked slightly embarrassed but made no response!
Sudarshani had come to cast her vote despite the funeral of her father!
