Bulla who had to step down from the governing post had made an earnest request to Number One; that he be re-nominated as a national list member.
Bulla had told Number One given his long public record, he deserved to be a member of the august assembly. However, he had been told that it was too late to consider his request as Shantha from Wayamba had already been appointed to fill the vacancy.
When Bulla persisted with the request, Number One contacted Shantha and told him that Bulla had become an irritant in his side by pressing that he be re-appointed as a national list member. “Would you mind stepping down to make way for Bulla to be re-appointed? I can offer you some key post in case you resign…”
Shanta who listened to this request quietly, gave Number One a brief, but firm reply: “I am sorry, Sir! I cannot oblige you!”
