Mending fences through flattery!

The main character of this story is a Blue party senior holding a high post in the party. In fact, this senior had occasion to suffer keen disappointment not only once, but several times when he had to lose the Number Two position just as it was almost within his reach.

This Blue senior had recently got into the bad books of Number One by unwittingly making a remark which the latter had resented.

At first, he had taken the Number One’s reaction as a passing cloud. But he had to give it serious thought when the big boss had begun ignoring even his telephone calls.

So, the Blue party senior had been wondering as to how he could again get into the good books of Number One and suddenly a brain wave had struck his mind.

At the immediately next public rally he had to address, he made a point to announce with emphasis that the Blue party’s candidate at the coming big poll would be none other than their party chief!

The Blue senior had repeated this announcement at several other public meetings too that followed.

But he is yet to receive or perceive any sign that could help him to ascertain whether his fence-mending exercise has succeeded or not, they say.
