The topic about the party candidate to be fielded at the upcoming big poll figured prominently at the discussion of Pohottuwa leaders held the other day.
While the discussion was underway, a veteran heavyweight of the old Left submitting four names, proposed that they select a candidate from among the four. The scion of Boralugoda and the eldest sibling of the royal family – the former chair of the Diyawanna council had been among the foursome proposed by the left-leader.
However, the other Pohottuwa leaders had failed to evince any interest in the veteran Leftist’s proposal. They all had taken up the position that nominating the party candidate at the proper time should be left to the discretion of the party’s de facto leader – the former strongman.
