Job recipients asked to finance the campaign!

A certain purohita the other day summoned to his office all the people to whom he had given jobs.

About 100 persons who had secured employment as labourers, office orderlies and junior clerks -thanks to the purohita’s political influence -turned up at his office at the appointed time.
After giving the visitors a warmly welcome, the politico told them: “We have done our duty by you. Now it’s your turn to do your duty by us…We have now found it difficult to finance our election campaign…”

Some of them asked them how they could help him.

“This is how you all can help me,” the politico told them. “Each of you please contribute Rs. 25,000 to our campaign fund! We also expect each of you to win over at least five new votes for us! After all, we make this request  only once in five years!”

Later a list of prospective donors was prepared. Everyone provided details like the name, address and the date for donating.

But the politico later found to his bitter disappointment that only three or four job recipients had made the donations as promised.

His disappointment later turned into a rage, a source from his office in Narahenpita said.
