An organizer of a political party with an animal as its symbol, nursing an electorate in the Dumbara valley has reportedly fallen into a situation where he is unable to show up in his area assured of being safe from bodily harm.
The man had fleeced money from people promising them foreign employment and he had got a thrashing from some job seekers cheated by him on several occasions earlier. So, he has stopped visiting his area.
Some time ago he had damaged the gate at the entrance to a Buddhist temple in the area by ramming his vehicle into it while driving it recklessly. And he had pocketed the money the party’s second in command had given him to repair the damage caused by him, they say.
