A Diyawanna group that broke away from Pohottuwa has now joined the opposition.
By the way, one may recall that before moving over to the opposition, the group took a keen interest in getting their candidate elected to Number One office.
While the rumored decision has mystified many people, some sources say that a certain vehicle affair is behind the real reason why the group has decided to support the annual Budget!
Some members of this group had reportedly obtained official vehicles from the main office, but as they had failed to return the vehicles, a complaint had been made to Police. However, this complaint has now been withdrawn, they say. According to the sources privy to this vehicle affair, the group has decided to vote for the Budget as a gesture of gratitude for withdrawing the complaint against them, they say.
The same sources further say that a high-up of the government has, following secret talks, reached an agreement over this matter with a gabby member of the group!
“This is how ‘principled politics’ is being practiced in our country!” a political wag remarked.
