An election-related flare-up averted!

A possible serious clash between two groups of activists of a political party in the bud in an electorate North of Colombo was averted due to timely intervention of some peace-makers.

Both groups of party activists, one led by a politico known for his acts of thuggery and the other by a mild-mannered one had been distributing propaganda leaflets among the people when they had come face to face. A slanging match had soon started between the two politicos despite both were of the same party.

Meanwhile, the activists of the two groups too had begun trading abuse. And they were about to clash when the peace-makers intervened and sent the two groups in two different directions, they say.
