The Head of the State has decided to increase the Police security provided to each Diyawanna member from the current two to four personnel, they say.
Although some Diyawanna members consider this security beef-up as a prestige addition to their status, some other members have got perturbed over this decision because having two extra men would mean an extra cost to them.
Although there is no need for Diyawanna members to maintain their security personnel, it has become necessary for them to provide them with food and lodging as most of them deploy these security men as domestic aides or for odd jobs, they say.
