The army troops’ amazing rescue of ‘Dutch’ national Mathalin (35) from near death, when he accidentally fell off the World’s End in Horton Plains during his honeymoon tour in Sri Lanka with his newly-wedded wife Linda, is just an indication of the care Sri Lanka has on every single traveller, said Tourism and Sport Minister Navin Dissanayake.

Three Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) troops, commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Amitha Perera, led by Company Commander Major W.A.L. Ranthilaka, speedily responded to the danger and rushed to the scene, which is commended by the Sri Lanka Army.

“We will do everything possible to make sure Mathalin gets the best care possible,” said Sri Lanka Tourism Bureau Chairman RohanthaAthukorala.
“We wouldn’t have had a better caring story to tell the world as we prepare the largest contingent of top tourism delegates from Sri Lanka to take part in the top Berlin ITB travel fair, where we would market Sri Lanka as a treasured tourist island destination of Asia,” he further said.“We, at the Sri Lanka Tourism Ministry, as directed by the Tourism Minister, will facilitate the team thus involved, given that it tells the world how much we care for a guest,” commented Athukorala.
