The Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BoI) signed an agreement with Singapore Dialysis Medical Group (Private) Limited to develop and operate a specialized hospital for kidney dialysis.

Located in Kohuwala, the estimated investment value on the project stands at US $ 1.5 million and is expected to create employment opportunities for 30 local and seven foreign staff.

The hospital will mainly treat chronic kidney disease providing Hemodialysis, one of the two forms of dialysis and commonly known as blood dialysis.

The treatment involves clearing toxins and water from the blood of the patient. It is generally recommended that most patients can reach the optimal clearance levels by following dialysis three times a week, with each session taking four to five hours.

The agreement was signed by BoI Chairman Dr. Lakshman Jayaweera with Certificates of Registration formally presented by Investment Promotion Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena to Singapore Dialysis Medical Group Sri Lankan Operations Managers Arden Clements and Prasad Denipitiya.

The facility will place a strong emphasis on patient comfort and privacy while all necessary pathology testing and medication management will be conducted by the hospital in consultation with renal specialists and will be complimented by provided counselling by the staff of the hospital to the patients and their families.

Patients will also benefit from world-class emergency ambulance coverage in Colombo via membership of Falck, a modern ambulance service.
