Thursday 30th July 2015, Colombo: wOw.lk, Sri Lanka’s largest online shopping mall recently partnered with Kiddies & Toys International (KTI) to host its first-ever ‘LEGO Day’, a fun filled event for children of all ages. The event was an immense success and brought together over 175 families and children, who were able to enjoy an exciting array of activities, entertainment and free giveaways.

Children and parents were invited to build a policeman constructed entirely out of LEGO blocks. The LEGO policeman reached 4ft in height and was the highlight of the day. Children were able to use their imagination, logical thinking and creativity, and were able to play with a colourful collection of LEGO blocks. The ‘Best Builders’ competition provided children with an opportunity to showcase their LEGO building skills. Jasim, the creator of the best structure in the 3 year old category, was awarded the ‘Best Builder’ award and won a LEGO gift pack as a prize. Zakkariya and Ascharya won the ‘Best Builders’ award in the 4-7 year old category, and the 8 year old and above category prizes were won by Nathan and Pricilla. Parents were able to participate in a business card raffle, and the lucky winner of the competition, Shahan Peiris, also walked away with a LEGO gift pack.

All attendees also received a 20% discount on LEGO products and Standard Chartered Cardholders were eligible for an additional 15% discount. All LEGO items are now available on www.wow.lk.

Commenting on the outcome of the event Ifzaal Iqbal, Head of Sales, Digital Commerce Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, the company that operates wOw.lk stated, “The ‘LEGO Day’ event was an even greater success than we anticipated. The event provided families and their children with a platform to have fun, engage with others and learn. It was inspiring to watch the creativity of hundreds of children unfold as they worked alone and in teams to build stunning LEGO creations.  Having received a great deal of positive feedback from parents at the event, we hope to continue conducting more family oriented events in the near future.”

Further elaborating on the success of ‘LEGO Day’, Yohan Ziard, Business Development Manager, KTI stated, “We are truly proud to have been a part of ‘LEGO Day’, which was an incredibly interactive and unique event. It brought together friends and family members and allowed them to work together in a positive and relaxed environment. LEGO blocks don’t just provide children with an opportunity to explore their creativity; they are also designed to enhance logical thinking.
