Lalith to resign; Dileepa new SLT Group CEO

Sri Lanka Telecom PLC yesterday announced the resignation of incumbent Group CEO Lalith De Silva and the appointment of new Group CEO Dileepa Wijesundara. De Silva’s resignation will come into effect from March 13, 2015. But the company said from March 9 onwards he would no longer have the duties and responsibilities of Group CEO. “He has agreed to assist the company in the transition to a new Group CEO until March 13, 2015,” SLT said in a stock exchange filing. Hence, the new Group CEO will assume duties with effect from March 9, 2015.

An old boy of Royal College, Wijesundara is also a former Sri Lanka Ports Authority Chairman.

Wijesundara holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Kingston University, UK and Master of Science in Management from Loughborough University, UK. He has been a top level executive with extensive experience in project logistics, profitability and restructuring both at private and government level.
