HSBC Sri Lanka has won the Best Consumer Internet Bank by Global Finance for the seventh consecutive year, in its 13th competition of the World’s Best Internet Banks 2012.

Other winners in the same category included HSBC Brunei, Hong Kong, Brazil, Mexico and Bermuda. Regionally, HSBC was awarded, Best Website Design, Best in Mobile Banking and Best Online Deposit, Credit and Investment Product Offerings.

“The Internet has changed the way we do banking, making it more convenient and accessible from anywhere in the world. It has also driven us to be more eco-friendly with the adoption of e-statements and other e-banking methods that consciously help us preserve and protect our environment. Further, HSBC’s Internet banking is backed by many security features that protect customers against fraud when transacting online. Therefore, we are truly delighted at winning this award for the seventh time in a row and endeavour to keep enhancing our on-line banking service for the benefit of our customers,” said Nilantha Bastian, Head of Retail Banking and Wealth Management at HSBC.

The awards won are due to HSBC’s commitment to developing and evolving world-class solutions through the bank’s personal Internet banking service, to provide Sri Lankan customers with global systems and banking at their fingertips.

In Global Finance’s awards programme, winning banks were selected based on the strength of strategy for attracting and servicing customers online, success in getting customers to use web offerings, growth of online customer base, breadth of product offering, evidence of tangible benefits gained from Internet initiatives and website design and functionality

Winners were chosen among entries evaluated by a world-class judging panel. Regional and global winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in the New York City in November and published in the December issue of Global Finance.
