Electro Automotive (Pvt.) Ltd launched their second fast charging power unit (FCPU) in Galle at Dadella, Galle recently under the patronage of Petroleum Resource Development Minister Chamdima Weerakkodi.

Galle plant is the first of a series of similar FCPU’s that the company is planning to establish in all main cities throughout the country, following the launch of their first unit in Colombo.

This is a significant event for all electric vehicle users as this is the first time a fast charging unit is in operation out of Colombo.

The opening of this charging unit is a highlight in the development of alternate energy usage for transportation.

According to the data compiled by Colombo-based JB Securities, 471 electric cars were registered in September 2015, up from 380 from August and mere 15 units 12 months ago.

“There are also 4 Tesla Model S, 3 BMW I3 and 2 Mercedez Benz B class. Total Tesla Model S population is now 8 cars on the road,” JB Securities said.
