CICT receives first vessel carrying equipment

Colombo International Container Ter minal (CICT), which is developed under the South Harbour Terminal project received its first vessel on May 20, carrying on board 3 gantry cranes and 10 rubber tire gantry cranes to be installed at the CICT.

The vessel ZHEN HUA 25 from Shang Hai was the first vessel of four more vessels that are to be expected at CICT with the same quantity of equipment.

C ICT is a joint venture Company between China Merchants Holdings (International) Co., Ltd. (CMHI), a listed blue chip company in the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, and the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA).

The terminal with the 2.4 million TEU capacity is being built under a 35-year Build, Operate and Transfer agreement the majority shareholder CMHI has with SLPA.

The ship and the equipment belongs to Shang Hai ZHEN HUA shipping company Limited (ZPMC) and, ZPMC is a market leader in the world for manufacturing and supplying heavy duty harbour equipment and who enjoys and 70 percent market share.

The ZPMC is a subsidiary of t he Chinese business condominium called CCC. The ZPMC shipping agency was obtained by Ceyline Consultant-Business Development Parakrama Pilapitiya for Ceyline Shipping limited who also started road constructions for Ceyline.

He also has the second shipping line who has shown interest in appointing Ceyline Shipping Limited as their local agents.

The unloading of equipments from ZHEN HUA 25 ship operations were very skillfully handled by Capt. Kapila Perera and his dedicated team who took into consideration every aspect making the Chinese ship Captain extremely happy.

On their arrival, the ship Captain, The Chief Officer and the Chief Engineer were warmly welcomed by China Harbour Engineering company official Wang Meng on behalf of Ceyline shipping.
