Remembering a trailblazer

Dudley Senanayake, one of the trailblazers in the Sri Lankan political arena of all time is remembered for the exemplary service he extended towards the country. 
The work of this great personality will be appreciated this July, as the Dudley Senanayake Memorial Foundation will be organising the 16th Memorial Lecture in his honour. 
The lecture is being held with the co-operation of The Friedrich Naumann Stiftung Fur Die Freihert, who has sponsored this oration since its inception. 
The distinguished orator this year will be Hon. Jose Luis Martin Gascon, the Chairperson of the Committee for Human Rights in the Philippines. The lecture is entitled ‘Human Rights in a Liberal Democracy’. The Orator is currently the Chairperson of the Committee for Human Rights in the Philippines and has held many other prestigious positions in the Philippines and has won several  international awards  for his work as a political analyst, and social reformer for the concerns of democratic governance for over three decades.


The directors of the Dudley Senanayake Memorial Foundation are its Chairman and Minister of Prison Reforms, Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Hindu Affairs  D.M. Swaminathan, Minister of Tourism, Christian Affairs and Lands John Amarathunga, Minister of Urban Development, Water Supply and Drainage Rauff Hakeem, Minister for Special Assignments Sarath Amunugama, Minister of State for Defence Ruwan Wijewardene,  Mr. Rukman Senanayake, Mr. Bradman Weerakoon, Dr. Rohan Edrisinha, Swarna Amaratunge, Ilika Karunaratne, Dr.Channa Ranasinghe, Joe Karunaratne,  Jith Peiris, Ranel Wijesinha and Shalini Senanayake.
The lecture will be held on July 7, 2016 at The Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies from 5.15 p.m. onwards.
