The Federation of Self Employed (FOSE) was collecting approximately Rs.1.8 million per month from the members of the federation without maintaining proper accounting records, the counsel for the plaintiffs informed Colombo District Court yesterday.

"The federation made this revelation to Court when the defendants sought an order to revoke the enjoining order which prevented FOSE President Mahinda Kahandagamage, its  Secretary and the treasurer collecting money from the members of the federation"

Counsel Lakshan Dias appearing for the two plaintiffs Jayawardenage Sunil Perera and N.W.V.N. Swarnalatha who had filed a lawsuit against the federation made this revelation to Court when the defendants sought an order to revoke the enjoining order which prevented FOSE President Mahinda Kahandagamage, its  Secretary and the treasurer collecting money from the members of the federation.
Counsel for the plaintiffs further submitted to Court that the defendants were collecting a sum of Rs.50 to Rs.100 per day from each member (Rs.16,000 per day) but the organisation so far failed to present proper accounting records pertaining to the expenses.
