The All Island United Teachers’ Union has made a written request to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and the new Minister of Education  to expel Chairman of the National Salaries and Cadre Commission- Sudath Ranukge.

Chairman of the All Island United Teacher’s Union Ven. Yalwela Pannasekara Thera said that Sudath Ranukge, who previously agreed to the alternative suggestions put forward by the Ministry of Education to remove salary anomalies of teachers and principals, had later rejected them.

“The Chairman had deceived teachers and principals and therefore he should be expelled since he was not suitable for this position,” he further said.

Ven. Yalwela Pannasekara Thera added that even though he had rejected the alternative suggestions for salary anomalies in the discussion held on November 14, he had said that those suggestions were satisfactory and could have been implemented.
