‘Sri Lanka Army Way Forward Strategy 2020-2025’ launched

The Sri Lanka Army, yesterday launched its much-researched and meticulously compiled ‘Sri Lanka Army Way Forward Strategy 2020-2025’ (SLAWFS) policy-document at the Army HQ.   


The SLAWFS, a sustained and collective effort of civil-military scholars for more than 10 months was slated to explore and assist upgrade the Army military strategy for the next five years with special focus on modernisation, taking place in the defence spectrum world-wide, amid multiple and complex global threat landscapes to be in line with fast- changing and multifaceted global conditions and circumstances.   


Principal Adviser to the President Lalith Weeratunge participated in the launching ceremony as the chief guest and Defence Secretary Kamal Gunaratne and Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva attended the event.   


Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva distributed the first maiden copies of the SLAWFS-2020-2025 by its architect, to Mr Weeratunge and the Defence Secretary marking a new turning point in military annals.   


 Chief guest, Mr Lalith Weeratunge  in his address, thereafter, highlighted the importance of having a strategic preparedness for the country’s biggest land force.
