Special train services during Esala Perahera season

The Department of Railways had deployed several special train services due to historic Esala Maha Perehera of Temple of the Tooth Relic, Kandy.   


The additional train services will be operated from August 10 to August 15 between Colombo, Matale and Nawalapitiya for the convenience of the commuters.   


Accordingly, a special train (no.1) will operate from Saturday (10) to Wednesday (14) starting from Colombo Fort at 9.50 a.m. and arriving Kandy at 1.14 p.m. Another train (no.2)will leave from Kandy at 11.45p.m and will arrive Colombo Fort at 2.51 a.m. from Saturday (10) to Wednesday (14). Train no 3 will leave Kandy railway station at 11.55 p.m and reach Nawalapitiya station at 1.08 a.m. for four days starting from Saturday.  Two special trains will be operating between Kandy and Colombo Fort only on August 15. Special train no.4 will depart from Colombo Fort at 7.10 a.m and reach Kandy at 10.27 a.m. Special train no.5 will depart at 7.00 p.m. from Kandy and arrive in Colombo Fort at 10.38 p.m.   


Another five special trains will operate between Kandy and Matale for four days starting from August 10. Train no.6 will start from Kandy at 1.20 p.m and will reach Matale at 2.24 p.m. Train no.7 will leave from Matale at 3.30 p.m and will arrive in Kandy at 4.26 p.m. Train no.8 starts from Matale at 8.45p.m and reach Kandy at 9.35p.m. Train no.9 departs from Kandy at 11.30p.m and reach Matale at 12.50 a.m. Train no.10 will leave from Kandy at 2.45p.m and reach Matale at 4.02 p.m.
