Some 1.50 kilos of heroin were seized and six suspects including a woman arrested by the Nugegoda Division Anti Vice Unit during a raid at Bellanwila. The suspects are between ages of 26 and 45 years and residents of Piliyandala and Horana.
During investigations the police seized two trishaws, three motorcycles, a car, ten cellular phones and weighing equipment used by the suspects and Rs.1 million in cash.
When questioned the suspects revealed that they were operating the racket through a network of heroin distributors and based on the instructions given via a cell phone by the king-pin who was in remand.
Nugegoda Division Anti-Vice Unit OIC Inspector Janashantha Kahatadeniya, SI Asiri Jayasuriya, Sergeant 41127 Ruwan, 54478 Wasantha, 35358 Sampath, 18986 Sampath, PCs 51508 Udayanga, 74780 Renuka, 85511 Senerath, and 87814 Dhanushka are conducting further investigations on the instructions of SSP Pradeep Ratnayake, DIG Kapila Kadupitiya and Senior DIG Deshabandu Tennakoon.
