The Government has decided to close all schools, pre-schools and Pirivens in the country until Friday (30), considering the prevailing COVID pandemic in the country, Education Minister Professor G.L Peiris said.
He said a discussion will be held this weekend with the Health Sector, Provincial Education Directors and school principals to ascertain whether the schools could be opened on Monday (May 3) as usual.
Addressing the media Minister Peiris further said that they would like to inform parents that they made that decision prioritising the primary importance of the health of the children.
He also requested the parents to adhere to implement the health guidelines.
