Saman Ratnapriya was sworn in as a Member of Parliament yesterday in the presence of Speaker Karu Jayasuriya. He was named as an MP by the UNP General Secretary for the vacant position following the resignation of the UNP MP Jayampathi Wickramaratne.
Accordingly, a special gazette notification was issued with regards to this appointment by the Election Commission on January 27.
Mr. Ratnapriya, a past pupil of Revatha Central College, Balapitiya, is a trade union leader and holds a Nursing Diploma.
