Expressing his wishes to US President-elect Joe Biden, Leader of Opposition and SJB Leader Sajith Premadasa in a message to the new American President said his party also shared the same principles of progressive democracy, pluralist patriotism and social equity.
“As you stood with American people to uphold the values of democracy and justice, your platform provided the world with an example progressive democracy, pluralist patriotism and socially our SJB also share same principles,” Mr Premadasa said in his message.
He said- “Please accept my warmest congratulations on your historic victory on being elected President of the United States of America. It is with great pleasure that I send you, in my capacity as the Leader of the Opposition of the Parliament of Sri Lanka and on behalf of my party, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), my best wishes for your success as you prepare to serve in the highest office.
“The people of the United States of America have seen in you a reflection of their essential goodness as human beings and citizens and identified with your faith in the moral strength of your nation,” Mr Premadasa said.
“Just as you stood with the American people to uphold the values of democracy and justice, your platform provided the world with an example of progressive democracy, pluralist patriotism and social equity, the very ideals and values that our party the Samagi Jana Balawegaya shares.
“We wish you and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, the very best in your efforts to transform America and play a leading role in the world in striving for freedom, democracy, social justice, human rights, and individual liberty”
he added.
