It is sad to note that certain people were questioning as to whether former President Maithripala Sirisena  was in fact wearing clothes, SLPP MP Chamara Sampath told Parliament yesterday.

“I hope no one would misunderstand me. Injustice is not something new as such things have been happening since 1970s. Our houses were burnt during post-election violence in 1977, Then there were killings during 1971 insurgency and during anti- Tamil riots in 1983. Easter Sunday attacks are not the only killings that took place in this country,” the MP said.  “There are nations and people to talk on behalf of  the Catholics, Muslims and Tamils. However there are no nations to talk on behalf of  the Sinhala Buddhists. This is because Sinhalese Buddhists  live only in Sri Lanka,” he said.

“It was late Governor Alavi Mowlana who warned of the emergence of Zahran in 2013 while former Minister Wijedasa Rajapaksa warned of the attacks in 2016,” he added.
