Police nab SLTB conductor for Rs. 5 lakh fraud

A bus conductor attached to the Galle Depot of the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) was remanded in connection with a fraud amounting to more than 
Rs. 500,000.   


He is alleged to have stolen a ticket machine and used it to issue forged tickets to passengers and pocketed the money.   


An investigation team had arrested the conductor while he was on duty and seized the stolen ticket machine along with the stock of forged tickets issued by him, the police said.   
Meanwhile, a senior official of the Southern Province SLTB Regional Office said that depot manager and three others were also interdicted after a preliminary inquiry conducted by a team of investigators from the Narahenpita SLTB head office.
