PM attends religious observances in Kataragama

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on Saturday (12) attended religious observances in the Kataragama Sacred City. He first visited Kirivehera Rajamaha Viharaya and met Chief Incumbent Ven. Kobawaka Dhamminda Thera and participated in Buddha Pooja at the Kirivehera Cheithiya. He bathed the statue of God Mahasen and garlanded it. Later he attended religious observances at the Astapala Bodhi and the Ruhunu Kataragama Maha Devalaya.   


The Prime Minister met Chief Incumbent of the Kataragama Sri Abhinawaramadhipathi Ven. Kapugama Sri Saranatissa Thera and received blessings. 

 
Basnayake Nilame Dishan Wickremeratne Gunasekara, Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Chanaka Amil Rangana and several PS members were present at the occasion.
