NPC appoints DIG Lionel Gunathilake as STF Commandant

The National Police Commission has approved to appoint DIG Lionel Gunathilake as the new Commandant of the Special Task Force of Police (STF).   


The Commission which met yesterday evening had approved the name of DIG Lionel Gunathilake following the retirement of his predecessor Senior DIG 
M.R. Latheef.   


SDIG Latheef has retired on February 4, after serving 41 years in the Police Department.   


It was reported that the names of DIG Lionel Gunathilake and DIG Waruna Jayasundara were recommended to the post of the STF Commandant to 
the Commission.   


DIG Gunathilake who was the Deputy Commandant of the STF would be the 12th Commandant of the STF overall.
