Kandy Esala Perahera to parade streets on shorter route

The Kandy Esala Perahera will be held on a shorter route and with 2,500 dancers and drummers with all the rituals and rites starting from July 25 with the ‘Kumbal Perahera’ without the participation of the people, maintaining health and security precautions.  


The Kap planting will take place on July 21 at 2.26 am at the Four Devales and from then on the Peraheras will be held within the Devales until the Kumbal Perahera which commences on July 25,  which will parade the streets taking a shorter route.


This was announced at a recent meeting by Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela who is the sole authority of Kandy Esala Perahera.
