Health Services lauded by PM at opening of “ Saubhagya Suwa Arana” in Tangalle

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse who praised the efficiency of the country’s health services said Sri Lanka could outwit the developing countries and overcome the challenge of the COVID-19 due to the concerted effort of all those in the sector.  


Addressing the ceremony to declare open the new Cardiology Unit “ Saubhagya Suwa Arana” in the Tangalle Base Hospital on Saturday (6) he pointed out that Sri Lanka could be proud of her health services. The project costing Rs.46 million had been funded by the “Ruhunu Karaliya” organisation.   

 

Sri Lanka has a health service originating from grassroots level. The health sector employees from top to bottom deserve the respect of all citizens


“ Sri Lanka’s could be proud of the standard of its health services and stand with flying colours before its counterpart in other countries. Its integrity was guaranteed by its unstinted courage in bringing the spread of the virulent disease under control. The country could overcome that challenge due to the concerted effort of all those in the health sector while several developed countries collapsed. The death toll in the pandemic is more than 1000 in several countries. Only Sri Lanka has a health service originating from grassroots level. The health sector employees from top to bottom deserve the respect of all citizens” The Prime Minister further said.  


Minister of Mahaweli Development, Agriculture, Irrigation and Rural Development Chamal Rajapakse, Southern Province Governor Willie Gamage, Director Of Health Service (SP) Dr. Chandima Siritunga, Hambantota Govt.Agent W.H.Karunaratne, Director of Health Services, Hambantota District Dr. Deepika Patabendige, MOH, Tangalle Jagath Gajadeera, and Hospital Superintendent Dr. Sameera Thanthrige were present at the occasion.
