SLPP presidential candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa is the only candidate who can change the current political culture since he is not one among the 225 Members of Parliament, MP Susil Premajayantha stated. Speaking at a news briefing at the SLPP head office, MP Premajayantha noted that allegations had been levelled against all 225 MPs.
“But Gotabaya is not one of the 225. That’s why we say he is the only one who can change this culture. Our people may be poor financially but they are rich in intelligence and knowledge. They want the strength to live and not the ‘If tall, a security sector job and if short, a labour sector job’ mentality. Candidate Sajith Premadasa never touched the hearts of the educated and intelligent people. He simply can’t,” he announced.
He reiterated that Mr. Rajapaksa will win the presidential election with a huge majority of votes especially from the North and East Provinces.
The MP quipped, Minister Premadasa has already named the defence minister even without naming a prime minister.
“Though aspiring to become the president, it seems Mr. Premadasa is unaware of the Constitution. But Gotabaya has already pledged that he will take the responsibility of the national security of the country,” he concluded.
