Forest Conservator attacked by wild jumbo

A forest conservator who attempted to arrest an illegal sand-miner in Karuwalagaswewa last morning had been attacked by a wild elephant. 

 
The Beat Forest Officer of the Vanniyagama forest reserve J.Jeremson said when was giving chase with his assistant on two motorcycles to arrest an illegal sand miner in the forest reserve, they were attacked by a jumbo frequenting the road.   


A team of forest conservators from Puttlam rushed to the scene and admitted the injured officer to hospital.   
Meanwhile, the racketeer too who came under attack by the wild elephant had been admitted to the Puttalam Base Hospital.
