Army Media Spokesman Brg. Chandana Wickremesinghe said the constructions works of the Anuradhapura Sandahiruseya Cheithiya would be completed before the Poson festival next year. During an inspection tour on Tuesday to review the progress of the project, he pointed out that more than 60 percent of the project was complete. He said the project was inaugurated on November 23, 2010 by the Defence Ministry under the supervision of then Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa according to a concept of then President Mahinda Rajapaksa. Brig. Wickremesinhge said the security forces including the Civil Security Department were providing labour to the project and that any public funds would not be spent for its construction works. However, he said the members of security forces contributed Rs.10.00 each from their monthly salary. Several senior security force personnel were present at the occasion.
