A 29-year-old constable attached to the Maharagama Police Traffic Unit had allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself yesterday morning the police said.
They said the PC, a resident of Thalawa in Anuradhapura has shot himself with his service pistol outside the Maharagama Police canteen.
The body was sent to the Colombo South Teaching Hospital and the police suspect the PC may have committed suicide due to personnel reasons.
The Maharagama Police are investigating.
