Beggar woman with Rs.100,000 detained by Railway Security

Railway Security Guards had arrested a beggar woman with the possession of Rs.200,000 who had been begging in the train.

During a raid carried out yesterday by the Ragama Railway Security Guards in order to detain people who beg in trains at Ragama Railway Station, the beggar woman had been caught, said the Superintendent of Railway Security, Anura Premarathna. He said that the particular woman had been begging in the train while displaying a medical receipt prescribed by a doctor claiming that she had a mental illness. The sum of money which had been in possession of woman contained in the following denominations Rs.5,000 notes 35, Rs.1, 000 - 38 notes, Rs.50 - 1 note and 62 Rs.20 - 62 notes, he added. It has also been revealed that she had been staying at a rented room in Bulugahagoda, Kelaniya. (Mahinda Nissanka)
