Riza Azoor new Secretary-General of SLAMAC

Riza Azoor was elected as the new Secretary-General of the Sri Lanka Malay Confederation (SLAMAC), the umbrella body of all the Malay Associations in Sri Lanka numbering 26, at the Biennial General Meeting 2020 held at the Colombo Malay Cricket Club premises ‘Padang’ in Colombo 2.    Established on August 18, 1984, SLAMAC was formed to promote unity, understanding, cooperation and harmony among Malays and Malay organisations in Sri Lanka and to promote, uphold and maintain friendly relations with all other communities in Sri Lanka.   


The following office bearers were elected for the period 2020/2022:   
Secretary-General – Sdr Riza Azoor (Conference of Sri Lankan Malays)   
Asst. Secretary-General – Sdr Zaharan Haleed (Mabole Malay Association)   
Treasurer General – Sdr Thassim Junkeer (Kumpulan Melayu Battaramulla)   
Asst. Treasurer General – Sdr Akmal Hamza (Kurunegala Malay Association)   
Legal Advisor – Sdr Shafiudeen Risham (Ruhunu Malay Association)   
Co-Presidents: Sdr Taarik Booso (Mattegoda Malay Association), Sdr Shibly Marjan (Perkumpulan Melayu Di Puttalam), Sdr Soekarno Ousmand (Sri Lanka Malay Association), Sdr Aswan Bangsajayah (Kumpulan Melayu Kotikawatte), Sdr Mohamed Fareen Ghaffoor (Kandy Malay Association), Sdr Sandra Sourjah (Women’s Association of Sri Lanka Malays), Sdr Rilwan Lantra (SLMA Rupee Fund)
