The IHRA Journal was recently launched by the Institute of Human Resource Advancement (IHRA) of the University of Colombo. The first copy of the latest issue was handed over to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Mrs.)Wijayarathne by Dammika Perera, the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal.
IHRA Journal is a multi-disciplinary bi-annual journal which carries research papers written by academics at the University of Colombo on the humanities such as Economics, Political Science, Management and Law etc.
The Journal is published by the Institute of Human Resource Advancement (IHRA) of the Colombo University. It opens the portals to young lecturers to get published their research findings under a very competitive environment in obtaining space in renowned journals.
IHRA Journal was launched in 1999. However, it was abandoned in the year 2004 because of unfortunate circumstances which have been jotted down in the editorial of the journal. But the Editor-in-Chief and the compiler of the journal, Dammika Perera (senior lecturer Gr.1) who resumed duty in his substantive post in the year 2017 after a sheer grit in litigating his way through the entire system of the judiciary of the land, restarted the journal with the blessings of the Director of the IHRA.
The IHRA was initially set in 1971 to provide tertiary education awarding degrees and diplomas to the under privilege working class who were deprived of the university education due to various socio-economic reasons. Similarly, the Institute commenced this journal too with the view to assist our junior academics who find immense difficulties to get published their learned views and share them with the rest.
IHRA Journal today has realized the broadening existing academic horizons in the the university education in the 21st century and accordingly the journal too gradually evolved to make way for other disciplines, also for the interest of those who follow post graduate studies.
