Art competition on Children’s Day

As a part of the ongoing ‘150 years of celebrating the Mahatma’ and to commemorate the Children’s Day annually (coinciding with the birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru), the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (ICC) together with the High Commission of India, Colombo will conduct the Shankar’s International Children’s Competition on November 17 (Saturday) from 9.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m at SVCC, at 16/2 Gregory’s Road, Colombo 07. All children are welcome to participate in painting, drawing and writing competitions.
To celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, who demonstrated, propagated and insisted that the individual and the community must ensure cleanliness throughout ones life, the organisers of the competitions have made ‘Cleanliness is Godliness’ the topic for the essay, writing, drawing and painting competitions. Shankar’s International Children’s Competition 2019 is open to children born on or after January 1, 2003. Entries by children will be forwarded to New Delhi for the Shankar’s International Children’s Competition 2019.   
Children interested in participating may register their names with the Centre (Tel. 011-2684698, Telefax 2684697, e-mail iccrcolombo2@gmail.com). They are requested to be at the ICC at 9.00 am on the day of the competition.   
To commemorate the special occasion #BapuAt150, Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Colombo will give away special prizes to the three best entries in each category and the winners will be awarded at a special occasion.
