Mihimandala, one of the leading environmental organisations established in 2000, was rewarded at Shramibhanee 2017, held at the BMICH recently.

This was mainly for its continuous efforts to protect nature and anti-AIDS campaign supporting the government to eliminate the disease from Sri Lanka in 2025.

Mihimandala is an organisation formed by a group of nature lovers. The need to form the organisation was obvious. Mankind quite unwittingly in his search for progress is devastating the environment. A thousand clamouring voices were raised in protest and warning.

Mankind’s hope of survival devolves upon him the need to protect his environment and its voice is raised to create an awareness of this need. It is a non-profit motivated organisation. Its main concern is that in protecting the environment, it leaves for posterity living records of the beauty and splendour of the environment, both fauna and flora.

Mihimandala is but the representative of all people who sense the need that the environment needs the loving care and protection of its inhabitants.
