The staff of Sponge Pastry Shop (Pvt.) Ltd was trained for a period of six months by the well-known trainer Maruthai Ravindhiran, who is Visiting Consultant Marketing, Training and Development of Sponge Pastry Shop (Pvt.) Ltd, Colombo 3.
The training sessions covered customer care, time management, motivation, positive thinking, selling skills, effective communication skills, marketing, telephone etiquette, thinking differently and spoken English.
Training the staff is paramount of importance to succeed in the competitive market. Generally, the preference of training is only given to the marketing and sales personnel. However, holistic approach is needed to train the staff across the company.
When providing training, the trainer has to provide knowledge, improve skills, change attitude and make it a habit. The above are vital to keep the employee motivated and effective. This was expressed
by Ravindhiran.

Akantha Pandithasekera.
Ravindhiran has over 25 years of experience in sales, marketing, training and development in local and multinational companies. He was the former Treasurer, Assistant Secretary and Editor of Pharma Promoters Association. He was also the former Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of St. Joseph’s College Colombo 10 Old Boys’ Union, Newsletter Committee.
