Zahran’s group no more; no pardon for terrorists: PM

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, speaking in Hiniduma in Galle, said, “Don’t pardon terrorists and make sure you don’t punish innocent Muslims for the actions of a few which in turn could push them towards extremism.”

The Prime Minister was the chief guest at a ceremony to distribute Samurdhi entitlement certificates to beneficiaries in Hiniduma. He also declared open a new building for  the Thawalama Vidyaraja National School, a new building for the Thawalama Divisional Secretariat and the Suraksha Mandiraya of the Hiniduma Sri Shasanodayarama Purana Temple. He inaugurated a new building for the Mallika Navodya Vidyalaya and promised to build another section of the school at the request of the principal, Ven. Batuwanwala Wijitha Thera.


PM Wickremesinghe reminisced that when he first came to the Thawalama Electorate in 1977-1978 during the period M.S. Amarasiri was in charge it was a poor electorate. However, in the last four or five years this electorate has developed and we have allocated a large amount of money for Hiniduma and today you can see the results, he said.
