One of the main suspects wanted in connection with the murder of a businessman recently at Hanwella was killed in a police shooting yesterday at Deddeniya Children’s Village Road in Hanwella.
The suspect who received serious gunshot injuries in the exchange of fire between the two parties, when the Western Province Crime Investigation Division raided the suspect’s hideout, died on admission to Avissawella Base Hospital.
The deceased M.W.Rasika Viduranga alias Seeya (32) was a resident of Udakaravita in Delwala off Ratnapura
Police said he had been wanted in connection with the murder of Mohamed Prashan of Hanwella on a contract of two underworld gangsters hiding in Dubai.
Police searched the house and seized the locally made shotgun used to shoot at the police, a live hand grenade, a parcel of narcotic called ICE, and a jacket used by the suspect.
